Hitachi TV, 60V500A
Reason for Service: Sound distortion (rattling sound) on speaker with action movie and bass set to max.
Solution: Replace side protector between woofer and power supply with new part MN06392. 

Samsung TV, LN46A530P1F
Reason for Service: No backlight, power supply comes up with all voltages.
Solution: Replaced main board to fix.

Samsung TV, UN55C6900VFXZA
Reason for Service: Dead set.
Solution: Replaced 2 components in power supply. ICB801 and ZDB802.

Samsung TV, UN40F6300
Reason for Service: Dead set, power LED 2 blink error.
Solution: Found bad SM cap, RS802, replacing fixed set.

Sanyo TV, DP42841
Reason for Service: Audio cuts out at high volume and crackles sometimes.
Solution: Replaced Audio IC LV4906.  

Zenith TV, P42W46X
Reason for Service: Black screen, slowly gets better the longer set is on.
Solution: Found C61 in power supply bad. 47uF/50V.

Zenith TV, Z50PG10UA
Reason for Service: No video or OSD, screen lights up.
Solution: Replacing upper buffer fixed this set.

Coby TV, TFTV3227

Reason for Service: Loses video intermittently
Solution: We found a ground wire that was supposed to be screwed to the metal frame, had no screw.
Replacing the screw fixed the set.

LG TV, 50PC5D
Reason for Service: The screen had many red horizontal lines across the top part of it.
Solution: Replacing the upper buffer restored a good picture.

LG TV, 32LC7D
Reason for Service: Left side of the screen it too dark.
Solution: Found two bad caps on the inverter board, C215 and C218, 270uF/10V.

Samsung TV, LN-S2641
Reason for Service: Set won’t start.
Solution: Replacing the main board fixed this set.

Samsung TV, LN26A450C1DXZA

Reason for Service: Dead set.
Solution: Found and replaced bad regulator on main Board, IC1001. Check power supply for domed caps also.

Sharp TV, LC-52E77EU
Reason for Service: Set won’t start, power light blinking.
Solution: Replacing main board fixed the set.

Sony TV, KDL55W802A
Reason for Service: Set won’t start, 2 blink error.
Solution: Found and replaced 2 bad transistors in the power supply, Q6502 and Q6503. In addition, R6547 was bad, 0.1ohm/5W.

Reason for Service
: Powers on with high pitched squeal
and blinking power light.
Solution: Found shorted diode in power supply. D633, 27V/1W. 

Insignia TV, NS-LCD47HD-09
Reason for Service
: No video, backlights okay.
Solution: Replacing U507 on main board fixed set.
(was running very hot)

Panasonic TV, TH42PZ700U
Reason for Service: Dead, seven blink error.
Solution: On SC module look for row of SM FETs.
Check for shorts by lifting on leg of each. Q641-Q654

Samsung TV, UN55ES6100
Reason for Service: Set won’t connect to Internet.
Solution: Replacing the Wi-Fi module fixed set.

Samsung TV, LN55C750R2F
Reason for Service: Set intermittently had video, then went out all together.
Solution: Before replacing T-Con or main, sub crystal X11 from scrap set.  If no good, replace T-Con.

Samsung TV, PCL542R
Reason for Service: Dead set.
Solution: Replaced IC801, IC802 and IC806.

 Sharp TV, LC52D64U
Reason for Service: Dead set. F7000 blown.
Solution: Replaced Q7805, Q7808 and fuse to fix set.

 Sony TV, KV40XBR800
Reason for Service: Shuts down with 6 blink error.
Solution: Found and replaced bad cap C6556, 33uF/160V.

Reason for Service: Using HDMI connection,
black picture with no Sync on OCD.
Solution: Clean HDMI jack with 99.8% isopropyl alcohol.

JVC TV, JLC32BC3002
Reason for Service: When set turned on, JVC logo appears,
then sound but no backlights.
Solution: Found shorted D602 on power supply board. MUR460

LG TV, 32LP1DC
Reason for Service: No audio
Solution: Replaced main board.

Samsung TV, PN64D80000FF
Reason for Service: Relay clicks on and off.
Solution: Resoldered TS801s and TC802s on power board.

Samsung TV, LN46C550JIFXZA
Reason for Service:  Set won’t come on, red LED blinks continuously.
Solution: Disconnect LVDS cable; if set comes on with melody, it’s either bad T-con or panel. Reconnect LVDS and unplug cables from T-Con to panel. If set comes on, panel is bad.

Sanyo TV, DP50749
Reason for Service: Power cycles on and off.
Solution: Replaced IC5750 on main board.

Sony TV, KDL46V2500
Reason for Service: Dead set, four red blink error.
Solution: Check all inverter transformers and their associated sm resistors.

Reason for Service: No picture and no backlight.
Solution: Found D607 shorted in the power supply.  MUR460AX

Samsung TV, PN51D6500D
Reason for Service: Set shuts down, or clicks on and off, has picture and splash screen every 5 or 6 seconds.
Solution: Replacing main board fixed this set. BN94-04728A

Samsung TV, LN40A500T1FXZA
Reason for Service: Set comes on, then as it warms up, picture problems, then shuts down.
Solution: Check for bad caps, C102 and C131 on main. 

Sharp TV, LC60LE650U
Reason for Service: Dead set, no standby.
Solution: Replaced shorted IC7903, (A6069H), and opened R7900, 0.22 ohm fusible.

Sony TV, KDL46W4100
Reason for Service: Backlights come on, then turn off within few seconds with 14 blink error.
Solution: Found and replaced 7A open fuse on LCD controller module.

Toshiba TV, 32HL67U
Reason for Service: At turn on, screen lights up for second, then dims way down; sound okay.
Solution: Replacing T-Con fixed set.

Vizio TV, VP422HDTV10A
Reason for Service: Dead, no standby 5V or amber logo.
Solution: Found open cap in power supply, C8006.  22uF/450V.  Replacing fixed set.

Reason for Service: Dead set, no standby power light.
Solution: Removed the I/R board and found SM C4056 shorted.  Removing bad cap restored normal operation to the set.

Hitachi TV, 57F59A
Reason for Service: Changes colors, snowy picture, loss of one or more colors, all white and shuts down.
Solution: Replace signal board and make sure the firmware is updated. 

LG TV, 47LM6700
Reason for Service: Dead, 3 blink error.
Solution: Replaced a shorted D607.  MUR460

Panasonic TV, TCP42X5
Reason for Service: Dead
Fix: Replaced U203 on backside of Power board.  FAN6755UWMY.

RCA TV, LED46C45RQ
Reason for Service: Set won’t power up.
Solution: Replacing the EEPROM fixed the set.  U16

Samsung TV, PN64E8000GFXZA
Reason for Service: Dead set, fuse blown.
Solution: Repaired power board by replacing QS802 & QS804.  Examine whole board for bad solder and resolder as necessary.

Vizio TV, E390-A1
Reason for Service: LED backlights will not come on.
Solution: Replacing IC U403 fixed the set.

Zenith, 9-1302 module
Reason for Service: Dead, nothing.
Solution: Resoldered jumper next to Elect Cap CX3452.  Fixed set.

CE Tech Tips –August 2020

Hisense TV, 48H5
Reason for Service: Dead
Solution: Found couple of shorted diodes on power board, replaced whole power board.

Hitachi TV, 53SDX01B
Reason for Service: HV comes up, then set shuts down
Solution: Pin 1 of ip01 was 0 volts because dp14 was leaky. Replacing fixed set.

Magnavox TV, 47MF437B
Reason for Service: At power on, set chirps but will not start.
Solution: Replaced several bulged caps and Z902 and Z904 were defective.  P6KE120A.  Replacing these fixed the set.

Philips TV, 46PFL3908/F7
Reason for Service: Erratic operation
Solution: Bulletin: Check pin 4 of CN3105 on digital main board for 3.3 V with no keys on function board pressed. If voltage less than 3.3V, unplug keyboard from IR board.  If voltage returns to 3.3V, replace function board. If it does not, unplug CN3105.  If voltage returns to 3.3V, replace IR board. If problem continues, replace digital main board.

Samsung TV, LN40A500T1FXZA
Reason for Service: Power cycles with audible screech sound
Solution: Replaced C102.  47uF/6.3V ceramic, surface mount, blue box.

Toshiba TV, 46XV640U
Reason for Service: No video or OSD, but audio and backlights work
Solution: Found bad SM cap on main board,  C606, 22uF/16V.

Westinghouse TV, EW32S5KW
Reason for Service: Cycling red, green, blue, black. Can’t turn set off.
Solution: Set in test mode.  Press Exit on original remote.

Reason for Service: Picture was washed out.
Solution: Replaced U202 on the T-Con board.  AS15-U.

Reason for Service: Unit in protect mode
Solution: Replaced Q615, Q621, Q623 and R639, 2.2k ohm.

Panasonic TV, TC50PX24
Reason for Service: Shutdown,10 blink error
Solution: Replaced SS module.

Sanyo TV, DP47460
Reason for Service: Dead set
Solution: Found and replaced bad IC601 on power board. A6051M.

Samsung TV, PN58C6400TFXZA
Reason for Service: Set has audio but no video.
Solution: Replaced Q5006 and Q5008 on main board.

Sony TV, KDL46W4100
Reason for Service: Backlight comes on then shuts off in short time. Error 14 blinks.
Solution: Replaced LCD controller.

Vizio TV, E601i-A3E
Reason for Service: Remote and replacement not working, but front panel buttons work fine.
Solution: Found leaky SM cap off vcc leg of I.R. diode.

Reason for Service: Set seems to start with white LCDs flashing, backlight comes on but no audio or video.
Solution: Replacing main board fixed set.

LG Plasma TV, 60PK750
Reason for Service: Set powers up normally with two clicks when you turn it on, but if you turn it off and back on again, set won’t come on. Red LED blinking.
Solution: Replace cable between main and power board.  EAD60958306

Polaroid TV, FLM323B
Reason for Service: Dead set.
Solution: Replace all caps in power supply and under heatsinks.

Samsung TV, LN32D430G3DXZA
Reason for Service:  Backlights not coming on, audio okay.
Solution: Power supply had some distressed areas from excessive heat; replaced entire module.  BN44-00438B

Samsung TV, HL67A750A1FXZA
Reason for Service: Set shuts down and 3 LEDs blink in the front.
Solution: Replacing LED driver board fixed set.

Sony TV, KDL55HX729
Reason for Service: Won’t power up, 2 blink error code.
Solution: Check and replace as necessary:  Q6602 & Q6603 on secondary power board and R6540 on main power board.  0.1 ohm/2W

Vizio TV, GV47LFHDTV10A
Reason for Service: At turn on, relay clicks and then clicks again in a few seconds. All yellow LEDs on set front are on, and you can only turn off by unplugging set.
Solution: Check for open 1.5A fuse on main board or check U5.  AMC1117
